What do Real Estate Agents Do?
Could I have What it Takes to be One?
Real-estate agents work along-side a licensed broker to help clients rent, buy, and sell homes and property.
For any interested in an occupation that grants one the ability of being self-employed, real-estate provides a great opportunity to achieve this. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), as of 2010, over half of all brokers and agents, 57 percent, are self-employed and are also typically able to design and arrange their own schedules.
Over the next decade, real-estate positions are expected to grow by 11 percent, according to BLS. These positions will be largely dependent on the economy and location, but like nearly all sales positions, motivation, character, self-discipline, sales skill, as well as the drive to succeed and meet clients' needs are key in being a successful agent.
